Life in Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Mukherjee has initiated a large number of welfare measures for the Rashtrapati Bhavan community and endeavoured to convert the President’s Estate into a humane, hi-tech and heritage township. These include:-


1) SAMAGAM




• ‘Samagam’ offers an opportunity for all senior citizens to get together every afternoon from Monday to Friday.

• Facilities like ‘Yoga classes’, ‘Community singing’, ‘Counselling services’, ‘free health check-ups’ and ‘board games’ are available for Senior Citizens.



2) SPARSH


• A Respite Care Centre for special children, is manned by professionals. It is open from 3.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday.

   


3) SANSKAR


• - Nutritional requirements of children are being met at ‘Sanskar’ a play school, in President’s Estate.



4) INITIATIVES FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION


• The President’s Estate has been declared a Financial Inclusive Township (FIT).

• Several initiatives to promote financial literacy and inclusion amongst the residents and workers of President’s Estate have been started.

• Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in the President’s Estate has been developed as a Financial Literacy Centre.



5) E-GOVERNANCE (WI-FI FACILITY)


• Wi-Fi facility has been made available for all residents of the President’s Estate.

• E invitations are issued for most functions in Rashtrapati Bhavan.



6) SPORTS ACTIVITIES


• A ‘Sports Plus Initiative’ has been started with the aim of training talented children from the President’s Estate in different games using the sports facilities of the Rashtrapati Bhavan viz. Squash, Tennis etc.

• In order to encourage use of bicycles for improving physical fitness and reducing pollution, an “RB Cycle-For Clean Air – Fitness” has been initiated.

       


7) HEALTH INITIATIVES


• ‘AYUSH’ wellness centre has been started for the residents of President’s Estate.

• Yoga classes are held regularly for residents of the President’s Estate.

     


8) CULTURAL EVENTS


• Under the banner of ‘Indradhanush’, cultural events are held at Rashtrapati Bhavan showcasing the rich diversity and magnificence of Indian art and culture.

• Film screenings are also organized from time to time.

• ‘Food Festivals’ are organised periodically to promote community feeling amongst residents of the President’s Estate.

   


9) PUBLIC LIBRARY


• A dilapidated building in the President’s Estate earmarked for demolition has been restored and re-developed as a Library “Pranab Mukherjee Public Library”.

   


OTHER INITIATIVES


• A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in the President’s Estate has been built in a record time to fulfill the shortage of water for horticulture purposes, especially during the summer season.

• ‘Shakti’ a Digital Literacy Programme to train women and girls of the President’s Estate in the use of computer and internet has been started.
